this page will mostly consist of just... lists of things i like!! as well as probably some information about my special interests, and why i love them :)
hopefully this will end up being an absolute list of things i like - though my interests do tend to change semi-frequently! i just like the idea of having a list out there for people to know the sorts of things i enjoy :)
horror media
my biggest special interest is definitely horror media as a whole ! i have so so many thoughts about the genre, the history of it, overlaps in 80s horror and queerness... overall its an incredibly important thing to me!! i care so deeply for it - and truly always have ! as a child i was always drawn to horror stories, i read "scary stories to tell in the dark" multiple times a year - even though they always scared me so badly afterwards, despite my love for horror i also have always very much been a coward
john carpenters the thing (1982)
another of my biggest special interests is john carpenters the thing (1982)!! its my all time favourite movie, i love everything about it so much. i genuinely believe its one of the best, if not THE best, movies ever made. the effects are so good, the storys great, the atmosphere of the movie is spectacular, and it has managed to fully hold up as a movie 40+ years later!! i love the movie so much and it means the world to me :) its instilled in me such a love for practical effects - as well as made me want to get into practical effect making!
minecraft
my third biggest special interest is minecraft :) its my favourite video game and one of the games ive been playing the longest - third only to the borderlands series and bioshock! i started off playing minecraft with my dad when i was a kid - and continued on to now mainly playing by myself or with my online friends!! i also watch a lot of people playing minecraft - especially things like hermitcraft, qsmp, and any of those "i survived 100 days in [some kind of] minecraft" videos!! my life is very much surrounded by minecraft - im actually watching one of those videos while i type this all out!
frogs and herpetology
frogs!!! (one of) my favourite animals ever, they bring me so much joy! i just find them so incredibly interesting - the range in sizes alone is just fascinating to me! i find a lot of other amphibians and reptiles incredibly interesting as well, especially axolotls and snakes, but frogs just have such a special place in my heart! im especially interested in glass frogs - frogs whos skin, especially on their bellies, is so thin its see-through and you can actually see their organs and bones!!
wilbur soot
a more recent special interest, my brain got incredibly attached to wilbur soot off my old dsmp hyperfixation! hes definitely one of my favourite content creators/musicians, and is very very much a comfort to me!! ive been watching him around 3ish years now, and theres just something about him that made me go a bit insane about him. i literally go by wilbur because of him... im also so incredibly proud of him for his music career happening, hes very much inspired me with my own creative endeavours!! i have rambled about him for hours to my mom before
chernobyl, nuclear disasters, and nuclear reactors
i just find anything to do with nuclear power incredibly interesting, but chernobyl and similar disasters especially so! partially because with chernobyl were getting to watch some of the earths healing process as it happens - with plants and animals returning to the area! i also find the horrors of the affects of radiation incredibly interesting to learn about, its very much a kind of morbid fascination thing for me
true crime
im not going to say as much on my true crime interest because i want to stay respectful, but i am very interested by anything to do with true crime! especially with the more psychological aspects of it - things like why people kill. im particularly interested in older crimes
